Stefek’s September Prints, Fine Art, and Mid-Century Finds auction will present a large collection of Japanese woodblock prints, sculptures, paintings, mid-century furniture, and more.
Our collection of Japanese woodblock prints includes work by Katsushika Hokusai, Utagawa Hiroshige, Kitagawa Utamaro, Kikugawa Eizan, and more. Our selection features both framed and unframed woodblock prints. Other assorted fine art prints include “Edmond Sagot” and “Etrennes aux Dames” by Gustav Marie, etchings after Rembrandt, and prints after Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Theophile Steinlen, and Emile Berchmans by Imprimerie Chaix for the “Les Maitres de l’Affiche” series.
Fine art on offer includes a pair of painted wood religious panels depicting St. John and St. Paul, oil on canvas works by artist Jean Slusser, a charcoal on paper sketch by Paul-Cesar Helleu, and an oil on canvas harbor scene by Paul Philippe. Two sculptures from the Ferdinand Barbedienne Foundry will be presented: “Marie Leszczynska as Juno” after Guillaume Coustou the Elder and “Fighting Warrior” aka “Le Gladiateur Borghese”. Other sculptures include works after Frederic Remington, bronze male sculptures, and carved stone pieces. A large wood totem carving by First Nations artist David Louis will also be on offer.
Decorative items of note include a Dodie Thayer lettuce ware tureen and underplate, an International Sterling “Royal Danish” tea set, two Tiffany-style table lamps, a set of six mid-century globe ceiling lamps, and a set of International Sterling “Joan of Arc” silverware.
Mid-century furniture finds represented in this auction will include a set of Russel Wright for Conant Ball nesting tables, pieces by Modern by Founders, custom ceramic tile top side tables, a teak credenza/file cabinet, a pair of side chairs by Clifford Pascoe for Modernmasters, Benny Linden dining chairs, and a Danish teak draw-leaf dining table.
