Stefek’s Traditional, Modern, and Contemporary Auction presents a collection of fine art, photography, works on paper, mid-century modern design, fine jewelry, sculpture, and more.
Our selection of furniture this auction comprises of furniture by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller, a Le Corbusier LC1 chair, a pair of “Groovy” lounge chairs by Pierre Paulin, a Warren Platner for Knoll coffee table, a Richard Schultz for Knoll dining table and chairs, a Paul McCobb Planner Group coffee table, and four modular seats by Don Chadwick for Herman Miller. Several lots of Scandinavian design will be on offer, including pieces by Dux, John Mortensen for Heltborg Mobler, Alta Mobler, Erik Buch for OD Mobler, Dyrlund, and more.
A diverse offering of works on paper will include a Jean Dubuffet ink drawing on paper titled “Personnage 11”, several lots of Japanese woodcuts by artists such as Hiroshi Yoshida, Kawase Hasui, and Yoshihara Kimura, a self-portrait etching by artist Milton Avery, and a collection of four signed Erte lithographs from the “Scheherazade Suite”.
There will be fine photographs on offer in this auction from artists such as Irving Penn, Edward Weston, Imogen Cunningham, Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Monte Nagler, and more.
Fine art to include paintings by John F. Carlson, Auguste Henri Musin, Detroit artist Brenda Goodman, Alan Feltus, William Silva, and contemporary spray paint artist Steve Kaufman. Notable sculptures by Auguste Moreau, Loet Vanderveen, Paul Suttman, and a selection of Inuit and native artist stone carvings.
Decorative items include a collection of Herend “Rothschild Bird” porcelain, Royal Crown Derby “Old Imari” porcelain, a set of Cartier “La Maison du Prince” china, and a large set of Mackenzie Childs hand-painted dishes. Several pieces of fine Lalique, Baccarat, and Daum crystal figurines, vases, bowls, and other decorative items will be on offer. The highlight of the crystal is a rare Steuben “Nautilus” crystal iceberg designed by George Thompson to commemorate the passage of the atomic submarine U.S.S. Nautilus beneath the North Pole in 1958. Sterling silver to include pieces by Buccellati, Cartier, Tiffany and Co., Georg Jensen, Gorham, Christofle silver plate, and more.
